Can you design your home on your own? Sure you can... The questions to ask are,
"How will it look? ""Are you going to love it? ""Is it going to take time away from your family or work?" " Is it going to add stress?"
Take it from me, some jobs are just better left to those who specialize in it. Here's a true cautionary tale.  A few months ago, I got a quote to have my floors refinished. While I loved the idea of not having to do it myself, the frugal side of me thought, "I can do this."  I know people who have done it. People told me I could do it, too and I believed them. So my husband and ,
 I watched and rewatched numerous Youtube videos and feeling confident, we made our trip to Home Depot. We rented a few different sanders, paid $15 each for about 50 sanding pads, ($750)and sanded and sanded for almost two weeks. Meanwhile our equipment rental was increasing daily and sadly, at the end of two weeks, we were frustrated, stressed, in over our heads, and we still hadn't even applied the specialty, high-end stain. Humiliated, I reached out to the flooring guy, apologized for not using him to begin with  and begged him to finish it for us. He did... And we lived happily ever after... lol. Could we have made it through to the end? Sure. But at what cost. We both called the time of death on our own flooring efforts and were so happy to have Devan, a.k.a.  the best flooring guy on the planet, take the reigns and finish it to perfection. My husband and I could have continued, although I'm not sure we'd still be married. lol. Sometimes it's just better to pass the baton to a professional. If you want a functional and aesthetic space and it just isn't panning out the way you wanted, it's ok to tap out. We're good at what we do. We promise you'll love it. And if you're wondering, my floors look glorious.
